MARSHALL STEWART - KRMG 740 Tulsa
This award is given to Marshall Stewart for his five-part radio news
series titled "Fowl Water: When Industry and Nature Collide"an in-depth
look at issues surrounding state and city of Tulsa efforts to do
something about the deteriorating water quality in the northeastern
Oklahoma watershed. Animal waste runoff from a proliferation of poultry
houses was blamed for much of the problem that occurred. Stewart's
series ran from Monday Nov 9 through Friday Nov 13, 1998 and chronicled
the successful effort to get a comprehensive landmark water quality
bill passed that previous spring. Marshall Stewart, KRMG news editor,
was the reporter, the editor and the producer of the series. Our judges
agreed that KRMG and Marshall Stewart deserve to be recognized as GOOD NEWS FOR OKLAHOMA'S ENVIRONMENT!
