The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners is
dedicated to cleaning up their home. They appointed a Committee for a
Clean Cherokee County and created the Cherokee County Solid Waste Trust
Authority. The Trust secured funding for the construction of three new
Transfer Stations which also serve as Recycling Centers. The
Commissioners have relentlessly pursued the illegal dumping problem.
Since 1989, nearly all of the county’s 32 illegal dumpsites
have been cleaned up. The Board supports an annual free dump day,
called “Trash Off Day,” and they set up educational booths at the fair
and other public events. THE CHEROKEE COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS IS GOOD NEWS FOR OKLAHOMA’S ENVIRONMENT!
