Pen Woods graciously accepted the 2nd Lifetime Achievement Award ever given by KOB.
|
Keep Oklahoma Beautiful got its start in 1965 and
has had a number of incarnations in the ensuing 35 years. Although Pen
Woods wasn’t a founding KOB member, he served the group as president
through 2 consecutive terms early on in KOB history and an
unprecedented 3rd term some years later. In fact, it was Pen who
produced KOB’s first statewide workshops. So one could say that he was
the “father” of the KOB conference!
Woods is a public relations and corporate communications
professional, having worked for OGE and Oklahoma Christian University
in Edmond. He tried to retire in 1996 – but the university has pressed
him back into service in recent months.
Pen is a veteran of WWII and the Korean conflict and
has a love for country and community that shows through in everything
he does. He is a long-time member, board member and advisory board
member for OKC Beautiful and also serves on the board for the Oklahoma
Tree Bank.
Pen has a remarkable record of community service and a
passion for the environment. It is a privilege for Keep Oklahoma
Beautiful to claim him as one of our own and to present the Lifetime
Achievement Award to Mr. Pendleton Woods.
