Moore Beautiful first met on April 2, 1999. That
day, they decided on a long-term plan for implementing and funding the
beautification of the City of Moore. Thirty-one days later, when an F-5
tornado devastated much of the city, the committee was forced to change
their focus, offering help to those whose homes were destroyed or
heavily damaged in the storm. They offered “Welcome Home” trees to
those who rebuilt their homes in the damaged areas. They placed signs
and landscaping at the entrances to neighborhoods that had been in the
path of the tornado. The beautification became a clear promise of
restoration to the residents who were struggling to clean up and
rebuild.
Since last year’s tragic storm, Moore Beautiful has been
successful in creating a cooperative spirit among the various community
entities, allowing everyone to accomplish MOORE for the city. ...MOORE GOOD NEWS FOR OKLAHOMA’S ENVIRONMENT!
