Although the stated mission of the Oklahoma
Department of Environmental Quality says nothing about supporting and
promoting education, its dedicated workers frequently go beyond the
proverbial extra mile for schools and groups seeking information on
various environmental concerns.
In the past year, DEQ’s efforts ranged from programs and contests for
students in grades K through 12, to producing posters and a planning
guide to support community celebrations of “America Recycles Day.”
Throughout the state, Oklahomans used the department’s “Use Less Stuff”
waste reduction campaign and learned from the many presentations and
exhibits provided by DEQ for special events.
Even more impressive is the behind the scenes
support, wisdom and manpower DEQ employees donate to organizations such
as Keep Oklahoma Beautiful and others. For soaring beyond its mission
to administer environmental laws, THE OKLAHOMA DEPARTMENT OF
ENVIRONMENTAL QUALITY AND ITS EMPLOYEES ARE GOOD NEWS FOR EXPANDING
ENVIRONMENTAL KNOWLEDGE IN OKLAHOMA!
