Even the most casual visitors to Claremore can
easily see why it has been designated a Tree City U.S.A. for the past
17 years. What is not quite as evident, however, is the teaching
stewardship of the city’s horticulture department – a complement to its
quality landscape program.
Special interest adult groups and, especially, the
children at area schools look forward to the Horticulture Department’s
regular visits to learn about trees and beautification. The rapt
attention they get is very impressive. Armed with posters, videos,
chainsaws, wood samples, cross-section cuts, new trees to plant and
other props, department speakers have what it takes to get their
messages across to people of all ages.

For its total community involvement in its educational programming, THE CITY OF CLAREMORE HORTICULTURE DEPARTMENT HAS TAKEN ROOT AS GOOD NEWS FOR OKLAHOMA’S TREES AND PLANT LIFE!
