Accepting for Alva 4H/FFA: Julia Bays, Alva Sponsor
|
Starting with its first tree grant 12 years ago, the 4-H and FFA’s “Save the Earth Project” in Alva has acquired more than $200,000 in state and federal funding.
As a result, they have transformed the look of Alva with the planting of 911 trees and 100 flowering shrubs along with 12-hundrend seedlings. The students also have sponsored educational contests, created plaques for a tree trail, won a fight for a downtown beautification project, taped television messages and led the first Great American Cleanup efforts this year in Alva.
Our judges noted they’ve made a substantial visual and educational impact. For sowing the sees of beautification in so many impressive ways, Alva’s
4-H and FFA students are good news ambassadors of Oklahoma’s environmental stewardship now and in the future.
