Sometimes it takes just one person to spark a remarkable effort. The ignition behind the historic restoration projects at Lake Murray State Park has been State Senator Johnnie Crutchfield.
Under his vision and legislative leadership, funding was allocated last year to take the first steps in a long-term building restoration program at this 12,500-acre park which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
For setting the model for other such projects needed across the state by pulling several groups together to get the job done, Senator Crutchfield and Lake Murray State Park have earned our recognition for exceptional merit as well as the state’s gratitude.
