She’s
called The Pied Piper of Picker-Uppers, The Trash-Off Queen and, in
another royal tribute, The Queen of Clean. Her real name is Lou Hall
and she’s the most fearsome – and beloved – GRIME-fighting force in
Pauls Valley.
She’s not hard to find. Just go to Wacker Park any day the weather’s
not terrible and you’ll see her picking up litter and encouraging the
high school students who eat their lunch there to use the trash
receptacles. You can also see Lou at the head of the annual Trash-Off
Parade she organizes, or find her picking up litter after special
events.
Our
judges called her “a tireless role model for responsible citizenship”
and praised how she motivates others to keep Oklahoma Beautiful by her
actions and her sense of fun.
Lou
Hall, for your excellence in combating litter on many fronts, and for
serving as a daily inspiration to everyone in Pauls Valley and, now,
across the state, we salute you!
