Andy Post, of Idabel Main Street, is the inaugural honoree in the Keep Oklahoma Beautiful “Volunteer Spotlight.”
Andy has been helping the organization since 1998 when Idabel become a Main Street Town. At Idabel Main Street’s first awards ceremony in ‘98 and every year since, Andy has been recognized for having the most volunteer hours.
Not only does he give his time to the Main Street program, but he also volunteers for the City of Idabel, the Idabel Chamber of Commerce & Agriculture and the Idabel Lion’s Club (of which he was recently named an honorary member).
Among Andy’s many duties are helping with the set up and tear down of Idabel’s seasonal decorations, cleaning up after festivals and maintaining Idabel’s landscape islands. He is also very helpful during the Great American Cleanup™ in Oklahoma and during ODOT’s Trash-Off when he helps distribute trash bags to participants.
“We count on Andy for downtown cleanup days, helping maintain our 12 landscape islands and keeping the sidewalks clean & free of grass,” states Idabel Main Street’s Program Manager Fay House. “Just about the only time you don’t see Andy with his lawn mower, weed-eater, etc., is on rainy days or in the extreme cold.
