ARTICLES OF INCORPORATION
Your organization’s Articles of Incorporation legally establish the
name and purpose of your nonprofit corporation. It is required in
order to become incorporated and file for tax exempt status.
(Sometimes this document is called a charter or certificate of
incorporation).
Be prepared to spend some time and money in order to produce this
document. Ordinarily, you would engage an attorney to assist you with
this step. The Articles are filed with the Secretary of State’s office
and there is a filing fee. Check with the Secretary of State’s office
for more guidance.
