Government Program AwardsBeautification & LandscapingHOBART BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION
You can’t help but marvel at the before and after photos taken by the Hobart Beautification Commission of its numerous downtown tree planting, landscaping and lot enhancement projects.
Where there were once barren sidewalks, now there are benches, flower planters and new trash containers in the shade of many newly planted trees. Where there were eyesores on corners, now stand beautifully landscaped beds of flowers and shrubs. And now each special season is celebrated with decorative displays on the corners of the Kiowa County Courthouse grounds.
For proving quite visibly that hard work brings beautiful and lasting rewards, THE HOBART BEAUTIFICATION COMMISSION IS A TRUE INSPIRATION AND GOOD NEWS FOR URBAN VISUAL DELIGHTS IN OKLAHOMA! Government/Education & PromotionCITY OF CLAREMORE HORTICULTURE DEPARTMENT
Even the most casual visitors to Claremore can easily see why it has been designated a Tree City U.S.A. for the past 17 years. What is not quite as evident, however, is the teaching stewardship of the city’s horticulture department – a complement to its quality landscape program.
Special interest adult groups and, especially, the children at area schools look forward to the Horticulture Department’s regular visits to learn about trees and beautification. The rapt attention they get is very impressive. Armed with posters, videos, chainsaws, wood samples, cross-section cuts, new trees to plant and other props, department speakers have what it takes to get their messages across to people of all ages.
For its total community involvement in its educational programming, THE CITY OF CLAREMORE HORTICULTURE DEPARTMENT HAS TAKEN ROOT AS GOOD NEWS FOR OKLAHOMA’S TREES AND PLANT LIFE! Environmental ImprovementINCOG'S TULSA COMMUTER CHOICE PROGRAM
Praised by our judges for its creativeness and inventiveness, the Tulsa Commute Another Way Day garnered great public attention to the importance of alternative modes of transportation available to downtown workers. On a mid-June workday, Tulsa’s air quality and traffic congestion challenges were met by an eager array of bicyclists, walkers, skaters, carpoolers, bus riders and stay-at-home telecommuters.
Soft Oldies 94.1 broadcast live from downtown and gave away prizes to the alternative commuters who stopped by to enjoy a continental breakfast. Enrollment in the Rideshare carpooling program increased 10 percent and visits to the Tulsa Commuter Choice website boomed.
For driving home awareness to a myriad of ways for downtown commuters to help clear the air, TULSA’S COMMUTER CHOICE PROGRAM AND ITS COMMUTE ANOTHER WAY DAY IS GOOD NEWS FOR OKLAHOMA’S AIR QUALITY! |
