The HOMETOWN MAKEOVER- A Community Improvement Guide -  and Regional Workshops

Made possible by funding from the Wal-Mart Foundation

This is a valuable online educational tool that will empower community improvement groups to begin to work toward a cleaner, more sustainable, attractive and thus more economically viable ommunity.  The Guide contains information, guidelines, templates, resources and project ideas that will allow these groups to "hit the ground running" with tested ideas and fresh approaches to community improvement.  Regional Workshops will be held that introduce and teach each section of the Guide, including the sharing of success stories of Oklahoma communitites.  Groups that adopt the process and become KOB affiliates will receive continuing education, updates and new ideas every year.  KOB affiliate network members will have access to special opportunities, resources and recognition.

Environmental Excellence Competition

Each year, Keep Oklahoma Beautiful calls for nominations for environmental awards in a number of categories.  The prestigious awards are presented at KOB's highly anticipated Awards Recognition Banquet in November.  The best of the environmental best in Oklahoma are honored.

Great American CleanUp™ in Oklahoma

The Great American Cleanup™ is the signature nation-wide project of Keep America Beautiful.  As a state affiliate of KAB, Keep Oklahoma Beautiful coordinates the cleanup activities in Oklahoma.  Everything kicks off on March 1 and ends May 31.  Registered participants in Oklahoma received free supplies compliments of the national sponsors for Keep America Beautlful and become eligible fto compete for prizes, special grants and other opportunities.  All groups that sign up for the ODOT Trash Off each year automatically become part of the Great American Cleanup™ in Oklahoma.

Don't miss this great opportunity to spruce up your corner of the world next spring!

Fresh Paint Days

Fresh Paint Days is a Keep Oklahoma Beautiful program designed to encourage volunteers to seek out unsightly community structures and renovate them with the creative use of resources.  Willing volunteers will make use of paint, donated by H.I.S. Paint Manufacturing, and a stipend for supplies, funded by Public Service Company of Oklahoma, to transform that community blemish over a period of a few days with just the application of fresh paint, a little creativity and a lot of elbow grease!

Anti-Litter Video Clip Competition

An annual competition to create the video clip that everybody will be talking about!

The contest challenges high school juniors and seniors and undergraduate college students to tackle the issue of littering in a 30 second video clip that could be broadcast on statewide television, made available on YouTube and published to environmental websites.  Cash prizes and loads of recognition will go to the 3 winners in 3 divisions for the Best Humor, Best Catch Phrase and Best Special Effects.

KOB on Campus

A Keep Oklahoma Beautiful campaign to coordinate a statewide friendly competition among the on-campus environmental interest groups in Oklahoma's colleges and universities.  A traveling trophy will be awarded to the group in each category determined to have made the greatest measurable difference in litter control, recycling and environmental improvement.
