Organizations, committees, councils, associations and communities that are dedicated to improving the aesthetic, environmental and sustainable quality of life in Oklahoma are invited to join the KOB Affiliate Network in an effort to share ideas, encourage growth and make the best use of available resources. Affiliates are offered affiliate-only grants and have access to workshop and forum opportunities.
Recycling - It's not rocket science. As a matter of fact, it continues to be one of the easiest ways to green up your community! Join communities across the country as they celebrate America Recycles Day. This is the one, official day dedicated to promoting recycling and educating the public about its many benefits.
KOB staff, community leaders, volunteers and experienced organizational directors will add to the sharing and learning experience of these events. The training sessions will be scheduled annually as a way to keep the KOB affiliate network growing and up to speed on the latest projects, ideas and opportunities. Watch the KOB website for scheduled dates, times and locations - or signup for email notices.
Every litter bit hurts, and Litter Education is a program helping to spread that message. By providing opportunities through creative projects, the programs are developed to teach students about the harmful effects of littering and the importance of reducing, reusing, and recycling.
Each year, Keep Oklahoma Beautiful calls for nominations for environmental awards in a number of categories. The prestigious awards are presented at KOB's highly anticipated Awards Recognition Banquet in November. The best of the environmental best in Oklahoma are honored.
Fresh Paint Days is a Keep Oklahoma Beautiful program designed to encourage volunteers to seek out unsightly community structures and renovate them with the creative use of resources. Willing volunteers will make use of paint, donated by H.I.S. Coatings, and a stipend for supplies, funded by Public Service Company of Oklahoma, to transform that community blemish over a period of a few days with just the application of fresh paint, a little creativity and a lot of elbow grease! Participants also have the opportunity to apply for equipment provided by CL Boyd.
The Great American Cleanup™ is the signature nationwide project of Keep America Beautiful. As a state affiliate of KAB, Keep Oklahoma Beautiful coordinates cleanup activities in Oklahoma. Everything kicks off on March 1 and ends May 31. Registered participants in Oklahoma received free supplies compliments of the national sponsors for Keep America Beautiful and become eligible to compete for prizes, special grants and other opportunities. All groups that sign up for the ODOT Trash Off each year automatically become part of the Great American Cleanup™ in Oklahoma.
