Keep Oklahoma Beautiful works closely with state agencies and corporate partners on environmental issues and assists community improvement organizations to become more effective. KOB's focus is to encourage grassroots environmental efforts designed
to bring about a cleaner, more attractive state and a sustainable
healthy environment and to raise public awareness about these issues.
Organizations, committees, councils, associations and communities that are dedicated to improving the aesthetic, environmental and sustainable quality of life in Oklahoma are invited to join the KOB Affiliate Network in an effort to share ideas, encourage growth and make the best use of available resources.
Recycling - It's not rocket science. As a matter of fact, it continues to be one of the easiest ways to green up your community. Join communities across the country as they celebrate America Recycles Day. This is the one, official day dedicated to promoting recycling and educating the public about its many benefits.
Staff from Keep Oklahoma Beautiful, community leaders, volunteers and experienced organizational directors will add to the sharing and learning experience of these events. The training sessions will be scheduled annually as a way to keep the KOB affiliate network growing and up to speed on the latest projects, ideas and opportunities. Watch the KOB website for scheduled dates, times and locations - or signup for email notices.
This contest challenges high school students and undergraduate college students to tackle the issue of littering in a 30-second video clip that will encourage personal responsibility as the foundation for keeping Oklahoma beautiful. Cash prizes and loads of recognition will go to the winners of 2 divisions.
Each year, Keep Oklahoma Beautiful calls for nominations for environmental awards in a number of categories. The prestigious awards are presented at KOB's highly anticipated Awards Recognition Banquet in November. The best of the environmental best in Oklahoma are honored.
Fresh Paint Days is a Keep Oklahoma Beautiful program designed to encourage volunteers to seek out unsightly community structures and renovate them with the creative use of resources. Willing volunteers will make use of paint, donated by H.I.S. Coatings, and a stipend for supplies, funded by Public Service Company of Oklahoma, to transform that community blemish over a period of a few days with just the application of fresh paint, a little creativity and a lot of elbow grease!
