Keep Oklahoma Beautiful is Finalist for $100,000 Walmart Grant
Keep Oklahoma Beautiful is one of five deserving nonprofits in Oklahoma with an opportunity to receive a $100,000 grant from the Walmart Foundation! The grant recipient will be chosen by a vote of Walmart’s 31,000+ sales associates in the state. Online voting will take place starting today June 18 through August 6, 2011.
If KOB is voted the winner, the grant monies will ensure the continued growth of our KOB affiliate network; organizations working to improve their community quality of life in terms of aesthetic appeal, environmental health and sustainable practices. With community improvement efforts being pursued through KOB programming in all 77 Oklahoma counties, the positive impact of such a grant would be widespread.
The economic benefits to paying attention to aesthetics, the environment and sustainable practices are well documented:
- Attracts new and retains current business
- Attracts new families and diminishes the move-away syndrome
- Builds a sense of community pride
- Aids all efforts to rebuild small towns and economies

If you have a family member, friend or acquaintance who is a Walmart or Sam’s Club sales associate, put in a good word for Keep Oklahoma Beautiful and ask them to vote for KOB. But YOU MAY NOT approach them while they are on Walmart property (including parking lots).
