KOB wants to engage 7th & 8th grade middle school students to understand the importance of ending litter. We challenge students to tackle this issue by reusing items to make "UpCycle" art. Photos of the art pieces will be posted on a contest website for the public to vote to determine contest finalists.

Teachers are encouraged to take this opportunity to implement this art project into their science curriculum, teaching students why recycling is important and how they may reuse items.

In addition to artwork, students are required to submit a 300-500 word essay. In this essay, students will explain the harmful effects of landfills, the benefits of reusing products, providing research on their city's landfill processes.
