From March 1 to May 31, an estimated 50,000 Oklahomans will join millions nationwide to participate in the 2018 Great American Cleanup.
Individuals and groups wishing to participate in the GAC in Oklahoma must register through KOB. Registered groups are able to receive free cleanup supplies, program materials and grant opportunities. Free supplies include trash bags, gloves, vests, water, t-shirts and promotional banners. Any group that registers for supplies after March 1 will be required to make arrangements to travel for delivery.
The largest one-day cleanup event during the GAC in Oklahoma is the Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s “TRASH-OFF.” This year, the ODOT TRASH-OFF is scheduled for Saturday, April 21, 2018. Those wishing to participate in this event must make note of their entry in their GAC registration. Participation in the ODOT TRASH-OFF makes a group eligible for ODOT’s award at KOB’s annual Environmental Excellence Celebration.
The GAC in Oklahoma is made possible by partner sponsors, the Oklahoma Turnpike Authority and the Oklahoma Department of Transportation.
“Oklahoma’s Great American Cleanup is a hugely successful program for Keep Oklahoma Beautiful, and we are one of few Keep America Beautiful state affiliates that accomplishes 100 percent county participation” said KOB Executive Director Jeanette Nance. “That means at least one community in each of our 77 counties participates in this program. Way to go Oklahoma! Will your community help change the face of your space for a more beautiful Oklahoma this year? We certainly hope so! Join us in our movement to keep Oklahoma’s beauty running deep.”
