Starting in 2019, Keep Oklahoma Beautiful (KOB) created and held our first zero-waste event, Waste Zero Wine at Clauren Ridge Vineyard and Winery in Edmond, Oklahoma. KOB wished to create an event with a fun social atmosphere and an opportunity to mingle with KOB stakeholders, benefactors, state agency leaders, sponsors, affiliates, board, and staff! Due to the success of the 2019 Waste Zero Wine event, we held another Waste Zero Wine event at the same location in 2021.
In 2022, KOB changed the name of our event to A Trashless Affair and moved the event location to The Rooftop at Packard's New American Kitchen, which boasts a beautiful skyline view of downtown Oklahoma City. Again for our 2023 zero waste event, KOB stayed at the Rooftop at Packard, but decided to keep things fresh by updating the name to the Anti Trash Bash.
For the 2024 zero waste event, we will continue to keep things fresh by combining the event with our annual Affiliate Forum. This year's zero waste event, still called the Anti Trash Bash, will be held on the evening of June 27, 2024, following day one of our two-day Affiliate Forum. The event will be held at the Chicken Shack in Arcadia, Oklahoma. In great KOB style, you can expect fun, great live music, heavy appetizers, and drinks!
How is the event zero waste?
Plates, silverware, cups, and napkins are made from compostable material. ALL trash and food are then collected by Fertile Ground and then composted, recycled, or disposed of in a way that is earth-friendly!
